Sophia
Wisdom, the one pursued
Wisdom herself, personified, exactly as the Hebrew wisdom literature has her: a woman calling out in public, in the street, at the noisy corner. Not in a temple. Not behind a door you have to earn.
She calls; she does not chase. She knows the way and she will not walk it for you. And every time she has your attention, she spends it pointing at something past herself.
She is never haloed, winged, glowing, enthroned or knelt to. Those are not style preferences — a glow on Sophia is a doctrinal error, because the moment she emits light she has stopped being a signpost and become the destination. She is also never reassuring.
Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice. — Proverbs 1:20
The rule that never bends
Turned away by default, mid-step. Her face appears roughly four times a year, and only ever to correct or to invite.
Why this one
Not written yet. This one is mine to tell and it stays empty until I do — a borrowed reason would defeat the point of the page.
