Where it honestly comes from
The “rose of Sharon” is almost certainly not a rose — most scholars read a crocus or a meadow flower. The red rose is Western symbolic tradition, not biblical botany. Its scriptural adjacency is the colour, not the flower.
The rule that never bends
One per image, maximum, under three per cent of the picture. It never shares a frame with Lady Folly.
Why this one
Roses are red, and it is no sin to say so. There is no sin in telling people they are beautiful either — so call it as it is, and tell them while you can.
