Insight 05 | I recently had the privilege of meeting with Brent Coble, President of Coble Builders, a luxury residential construction company in South Florida, to discuss life lessons and the hardships of the entrepreneurial journey.
Our discussion was full of wisdom and valuable takeaways that apply to anyone, no matter their stage of life.
I expected nothing less from a man who has successfully built a luxury construction company in one of the world's most competitive residential markets while never sacrificing his family or principles.

These are the takeaways I'm applying to my everyday life:
Dress For The Job You Want, Not The Job You Have:
- This one caught me by surprise, but its meaning is profound. Impression and presentation can mean everything, especially when closing deals, securing jobs, or making a connection. Make sure how you present yourself reinforces your strengths and potential.
Build a GREAT TEAM:
- Doing the proper work is vital, but having the right people behind the mission is just as critical. It's essential never to pretend to know something you don’t. Instead, find the people that do. A great team will help you take the proper "small steps" to achieve a company's "large dreams."
Keep Silent, Take Notes, And Don't Expose Yourself:
- How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time ... Progress takes time; along the way, we cannot lose ourselves in others' opinions, worries, and fears. Instead, you must make daily conscious decisions to work diligently and with discipline, focusing on your work, not that of others.
Do Business With People You Align With:
- In a world where many are blinded by the allures of Hollywood or Silicone Valley, it is crucial to "Have A Solid Moral Compass." Without it, you may become "successful" but will struggle with not being able to recognize yourself in the mirror at night. That trade is not worth it. This point applies to your work and those you collaborate with. Ensure their mission and beliefs bolster, not taint, yours.

I have found myself thinking these over in the days following our interview and firmly believe in their wisdom.
